All AboutWood?
Burning wood in your home creates a great atmosphere which is why it is so popular these days. Using wood to heat your home is also a great way of reducing heating bills, especially if your home is 'off the gas grid' and you rely on electricity, oil or LPG to heat it.

It is important that you burn the right type of firewood. Damp wood or soft woods do not burn efficiently, produce little heat, and are bad for the environment and your chimney. Our recommendation is that you always burn Kiln Dried Hardwood that has a moisture content of around 15-17%, this will produce more heat per log burned than poorly seasoned or poor quality wood.
There are various type of hardwood logs such as Ash, Birch, Beech, Alder, Oak and Hornbeam, each with their own characteristics. They all burn at different rates and can vary in price quite dramatically, so when you are looking at the cost of running a log burning stove, you have to consider a number of factors.

We believe that the most economic wood to burn is Birch, it burns well, suits most stoves, gives off a good heat and smells just great. We have just received our supplies for the coming winter and it is the best Birch that we have ever seen. From the 28th September, we will be offering this excellent wood to our customers for just £7 for a large 30 litre net or if you take a bulk delivery, the price is as low as £5.00 per net.

IS THIS GOOD VALUE?
You bet it is - we visited the leading retail outlets in our area and purchased one standard sized bag or net of comparable dry kiln dried hardwood logs that were on sale at the time of our visit. We weighed the contents of each bag and using their selling price, we calculated the price per Kilogram that was being charged for that wood. The results were as follows.
